Chitina Traditional Indian Village Council

This updated website popped up in my Facebook feed and connects to information about the council and its many programs providing assistance to tribal members including a local health clinic.

Screen shot from the website create by the Village Council.

The site currently indicates that the tribal administrator position is open, but I’ve learned this week that its currently being filled by Dean Barlip.

In most areas around the state its helpful to know the local village corporation and its activities in an area, and how they may overlap and complement the activities of the local village or regional tribal association and village council. The Chitina area formed the Chitina Village Corporation which lists owning the the O’Brien Creek camping area, but is also the owner of Taral Enterprises which owners and operates the local story, gas station, and campground. Visit their website for additional information at https://www.chitinanative.com

I’ve been in contact with both the village council and village corporation to explore ideas for development of the Emporium and need to provide both with updated ideas on how to engage the community in developing plans for moving forward.
